Jing! A free tool that once you use it, it become indispensable.
Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 9:03AM Our hope of course is that you use this product and then move up to Camtasia Studio to have more control of your video training videos but as a daily tool, this is a program that I find myself using multiple times during the day and that I would surely miss if I didn’t have it in my toolbox of applications. I have four computers and it is one of the first loads that I put on a machine when I initialize it.
What does Jing do? This package allows you to capture static and video screen displays. The process starts by choosing the area of the screen you are interested in, then choosing whether you want to capture the area as a still or video file. If you choose video you have the ability to narrate the video as you capturing. The only drawback, you have to get it in a single take or start all over again. The video is limited to a five minute video but you have many ways that you can save/publish it including sending it directly off to your YouTube account. Want more, purchase the Pro version and you can store in MPEG-4 format and edit the video in multiple applications including Camtasia Studio.
Some of the things you can do with Jing:
- Collaborate on a design project
- Share a snapshot of a document
- Narrate your vacation photos
- Capture that pesky bug in action
- Show Dad how to use iTunes
- Comment verbally on student’s homework
- Post tidbits from your life on Twitter or Facebook
